The Vocal Music Department is busy throughout the
year with a variety of performances and activities!
In junior high, students are introduced to part-singing, learn to read
music through basic theory and by the use of Solfegge syllables, and they
participate in the Fall Concert, Christmas Concert, district and other
contests, and the Spring Concert. Junior high students can also serve
in ministry at local assisted living centers/nursing facilities by providing
musical programs throughout the year.
In high school, students who are members of the choir are actively involved
all year long in the music department Fall, Christmas, and Spring Concerts,
and in addition, they minister to local churches and organizations through
music, small groups, skits, and personal testimonies. Choir members can
also participate in district and state vocal contests through the OSSAA
(Oklahoma State Secondary Activities Association), Western Oklahoma Choral
Directors Association Honor Choir, and Oklahoma Music Educators Association
All State Choirs. Each spring, the choir takes a six day trip to neighboring
states to minister through music and participate in service projects,
using their talents to worship God through song while serving others during
the work projects.
