CORN, Okla.–Every year in Christian Studies III, the class works on missionary projects. This year, the junior class project consists of reading a missionary book, writing a report, and making a 3-D star that represents the missionary. Mrs. Joyce Creed, Bible teacher at Corn Bible Academy, says that from this experience she wants her students “to appreciate the sacrifice other Christians have made for the cause of Christ and to be inspired with a love for the lost. I want them to admire and pursue greatness!”
Some may wonder what making a star has to do with missionaries. Mrs. Creed states that by making the stars, it shows that “these missionaries led many people to Christ and their lives are shining examples.” There are a wide variety of stars; for example, Emily Bartel made her star out of chop sticks to represent her missionary who went to China. Alica Hendricks made her star out of spears for her missionary who was killed by Indians trying to share the gospel.
What did the students in Mrs. Creed’s junior class learn during these missionary projects? Hope Brown said that “Adoniram Judson was a very strong-willed person and I have learned that I always need to rely on God’s strength.” Byron Detweiler stated that he needs to “allow God to use me wherever or whenever He needs me, and that His plan is the best.” Lastly, Kayla Kennedy remarked that “if you share the Word of God, you will be blessed in so many ways.”
Each student has learned a lot from their missionary project and has been inspired learning about the sacrifice of others. Everyone is called by God to be a missionary in their own walk in life.
Finally, here is a reminder: Please do not forget to pray for your missionaries!
