CORN, Okla. — The Corn Bible Academy Crusaders suffered their first lossĀ of the season Friday night, 18-16, to Tipton. The Tigers rushed for 285 yards on 29 carries in the first half, led by three long touchdown runs by Kendall Luckett of 29 yards, 63 yards, and 55 yards, to take an 18-8 halftime lead.
The Crusader defense stiffened in the second half, allowing Tipton only 68 yards on 25 plays. Spencer Huiatt scored both CBA touchdowns on a nine yard run and a 38 yard pass reception from Pate Gossen. Taylor Ensz and Huiatt each caught two point conversion passes from Gossen to round out the Crusader scoring.
Defensive end Jared Boese led the Crusader defense. Boese finished with 18 tackles, two sacks, and a fumble recovery, while Taylor Ensz and Ben Sawatzky were in on 14 stops each. Pate Gossen had 14 tackles and a fumble recovery.
The loss dropped CBA’s record to 3-1 (2-1 in District C-2) with a big game on Friday, October 2, at Thackerville, the defending C-2 champion.
