Crusaders Compete in the West Central Tourney

Corn, OKLA. — The Corn Bible Academy high school boys and girls basketball teams are playing in the West Central Oklahoma Tournament at Clinton High School this week, January 18-23. The boys played tough but lost to 2nd seeded Thomas, 53-32, on Monday night, while the 6th seeded Lady Crusaders beat 3rd seeded Sentinel, 47-41, on Tuesday night.

The boys’ game was close through three quarters with Thomas leading by three points at halftime and extending the lead to 14 at the end of the 3rd quarter. Spencer Huiatt led the Crusaders with 13 points while Jared Boese finished with ten points and 12 rebounds. 

The Lady Crusaders trailed Sentinel 23-22 at the half but rallied to take a one point lead after three quarters and then outscored the Lady Bulldogs 15-10 in the 4th quarter. Clutch free throw shooting by Echo Shantz, Taylor Smith, and Skyler Voss kept CBA ahead for the final score of 47-41. Smith led the Lady Crusaders with 14 points while Shantz, Emily Dick, and Jessica Penner all contributed eight points each. Dick also had a team high 13 rebounds.

The boys play Calumet on Thursday at 8:00 p.m. A win puts them in the consolation finals at 1:00 p.m. on Saturday. The girls play Thomas on Friday evening at 6:40 p.m. in the Semifinals. A win will put the girls in the championship game on Saturday at 5:30 p.m. A loss will result in the team playing in the 3rd place game at 2:30 on Saturday. All games will be played at Clinton High School.
