Junior High Crusaders Go Seven OTs to Win

CORN, Okla. – A truly remarkable game took place at Cement on Monday, October 19, as Corn Bible Academy’s junior high football team won the game in seven overtimes, 74-66, over the Bulldogs.

In a back and forth game, Jay Penner caught an 18 yard touchdown pass from Scott Dick to put the Crusaders ahead for good. Dick intercepted a Bulldog pass on 2nd down to finally end the marathon game. Dick, Penner, and Andrew Troyer led the Crusader offense. Dick threw for 261 yards and six touchdowns while also scoring on a ten yard run. Penner had five touchdown receptions, two touchdown runs, 201 yards receiving, and 96 yards rushing. Troyer had 137 yards rushing, 60 yards receiving, and scored three touchdowns.

On defense, Troyer and Travis Ensz each were in on 21 tackles. Due to illness, CBA was without three starters. Cody Godfrey, Joel Kliewer, Jordan Penner, Chandler Smith, and Michael Boese did a fine job in stepping in and playing hard.

With the win, CBA is now 4-3 for the season with the final game on Tuesday, October 27, at Destiny Christian in Oklahoma City. Game time is 6:00 p.m.
