Corn, OKLA. — After a District finals loss to Hammon, the Corn Bible Academy Lady Crusaders found themselves in a “one and done” situation at the Regional Tournament. CBA started out in the Regional Tournament on Thursday night with a 45-34 win over Lookeba-Sickles at SWOSU. Emily Dick with 12 points, Ellie Troyer with 11, and Jessica Penner with 10 points led a well-balanced attack. In Friday’s game against the Lady Panthers of Eldorado, the Crusaders jumped out to a 43-15 halftime lead and cruised to a 67-25 victory to move on to the Regional Consolation Finals.
Again, balanced scoring and defense were the keys to the victory. Penner with 13 points, Echo Shantz with 11, and Emily Dick and Taylor Smith with 10 points each led CBA. In Saturday’s Consolation Final against a tough Verden team, the Lady Crusaders extended a four point halftime lead to a 48-33 victory. Defense again was the key for CBA with Skyler Voss, Ellie Troyer, and Taylor Smith all having good defensive games. Smith led the Lady Crusaders with 19 points, a career high, while Penner with 11 and Dick with 10 gave CBA good scoring balance.
With the wins, the Lady Crusaders improve their record to 19-8 and advance to the Area Tournament at Chickasha High School, February 25-27. CBA’s opening Area game will be against Earlsboro High School on Thursday, February 25, at 6:30 p.m. at Chickasha High School.
